CHALINO SANCHEZ

Celebrating Adan Chalino

At age eight, Adan Sanchez wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps; he told his mother «I want to be a singer».  Everyone knew who his father was, the great Mexican singer/songwriter and iconic Corrido artist Chalino Sánchez, but, it was his mother, Maricela, who decided Adán Sánchez El Compita should follow his dreams, supporting him as he drove the Regional Mexican music scene with his charisma and musical magical that continues today. He received eight Premios de la Radio from Que Buena Los Angeles/Estrella Media, multiple awards, gold and platinum records, and sold out shows and tours in México and the U.S. His last performance being at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles was a unforgetable presentation of an influential star who for the first time played a magnificent Los Angeles venue.

March 27, 2004 this important artist had his career cut short. Adan, at age 19, was in a deadly car accident in Sinaloa, MX that ended his life. At that moment the legend was born. Over 6,000 people came to Que Buena radio at Estrella Media, all with candles in hand, when they heard the news of Adan’s passing. His funeral stopped Los Angeles freeways as fans tried to go to the church for the family’s homanaje and Rosary. Thousands of fans came to share their grief with the family about Adan’s passing. 20 years later we celebrate the music, storytelling, and spirit of Adan Sánchez. An iconic singer, songwriter, artist, son, brother and friend to Que Buena Los Angeles and all his fans.
